The Association of Machine Translation in the Americas (AMTA) invited me to participate in their 2023 event on the panel “Automation and/or Augmentation,” about the role of AI in our profession. Steve Richardson, former AMTA president, moderated the panel, and the other panelists were Arle Lommel, senior research analyst at CSA, Donald Barabé, former president of OTTIAQ (Canada) , and Markus Freitag, senior staff research scientist and head of translation research at Google.
